Western Formals for the Plus Size Women!

Dear Curvy Ladies!

When it comes to fashion, how much ever we want to dress stunning, we are always taken a back because of the options we got.

Working ladies spend 80% of their lives in work wear. Isn't there any way that we can style them too!

Western formals mean a trouser and a shirt or a formal top. However wearing shirts or tops neatly tucked in the trouser is the western formal wear that we imagine in most offices in India. Is that really an option for us!

Most of us are either worried about our wide lower body or our arms and not to forget.. the TUMMY!

I work in an organization where Indian wear is not an option at all. We all have to wear western formals. I have tried to work out options where I make sure that I look stylish in my western formals as well!

THE LOOK BOOK

While choosing your tops...
  • Length
Do not think wearing long tops would make you look better. NO.
Make sure the top comes down just above your hips. If you have long legs, you may wear slightly longer upto the crotch. The idea is to make your legs look longer than your torso, hence you need to make sure that the ratio is right!

  • Style
Wearing tops that have elastic at the end are great options. You may buy a loose shirt (just 1 size up) and then add an elastic at the waist. You can do this yourself at home or ask a local tailor to do it. Just wear your trousers with this. This will create an impression of tucked in shirts. If collars are not a must, try and wear tops with front button.

While choosing your pants...

  •  Length
Ankle-length pants for sure!

  • Style
Choose a stretchable fabric definitely for the comfort. you can choose solid color jeggings too in formal colors like black, grey, beige etc. Choose slim fit pants. If not you wear a straight fit and taper the shin area. High waist pants can also be chosen for comfort.

While choosing your footwear...

Choose your footwear wisely. We carry a lot of weight and hence stylish strappy heels are not an option. However, wearing flats usually does not look stylish with formals. I choose wedges! They are comfortable and they are HEELS. Pumps and peep-toes are recommended to match your western formals.

I have tried and put few rules that I follow to style my western formal clothes. Hope this helps!

Stay stylish!
